PMBOK Guide 4th edition – Probleme beim Download

PMI®, das Project Management Institute, hat zum Jahreswechsel vier neue Standards veröffentlicht:

• A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) — Fourth Edition
• The Standard for Program Management — Second Edition
• The Standard for Portfolio Management — Second Edition
• Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3) — Second Edition

Mein PM Blogger-Kollege Andreas Heilwagen hat zu diesem Thema in den letzten Wochen bereits einige interessante Beiträge gepostet:

So weit, so gut.

Heute wollte ich nun voller Vorfreude die neuen Standards herunter laden, denn für PMI Members ist der Download unter www.pmi.org kostenlos. Doch leider habe ich es nicht geschafft, die Files zu öffnen. Ständig Fehlermeldungen. Bei Andreas habe ich dann die Antwort für die Probleme gefunden: Die (passwortgeschützten) PDF’s lassen sich mit dem Mac nicht öffnen. MANN, DAS NERVT!

Wenn es nach mir ginge, sollte PMI die Standards auch für Nicht-Mitglieder kostenlos zugänglich machen. Denn das PMI (wie auch alle anderen Verbände und Normungsinstitute) sollte doch froh sein, wenn ihre Standards möglichst weite Verbreitung finden – Mitglied hin oder her.

Aber nein: Neuerdings werden die PDF’s auch noch mit unsäglichen Schutzmechanismen versehen, für die man zuerst irgendwelche Plugins herunter laden muss. Und dann funktioniert’s trotzdem nicht. Ein absolutes NO-GO!

Ich halte Sie bzgl. der neuen PMI Standards auf dem Laufenden.

Nachtrag vom 5.1.: PMI Customer Care EMEA (Europe – Middle East – Africa) hat auf meine Anfrage recht prompt reagiert. Hier ihre Lösungsvorschläge:

1. Users need to be connected to the internet to download the FileOpen plug-in, and to open a PDF document for the first time on a new computer

2. Using browser must be Internet Explorer, Firefox, & Safari

3. Make sure your operating system is on of the following Windows XP, Vista; Mac OSX Tiger, Leopard

4. Please make sure you have Adobe Reader installed to view the PDF files, and the latest version of Adobe Reader, version 9, though system should function with versions 6 or higher.

5. Are you able to save a copy of the PDF file into your desktop? (this will help us understand if you can download the file, and determine if it is a viewing issue vs. an access issue)

6. Are you getting any error messages? (if yes, it can help us identify what the cause might be. An example would be “[FO error #2114, OS error #0]” or “The server answer is an HTML error page.”.)

7. Can you e-mail us screenshot of the error you are receiving? (this will help us see the specific error message and work to identify what the cause might be)

Please let me know by e-mail if you still unable to download the PMBOK® Fourth Edition and we will contact our IT department to resolove the issue for you.
